A SHORT HISTORY teatro GLIMT has its roots in street theatre. But in 2005 the artistic need arose for exploring the more refined intense atmosphere that one can find in an indoor theatre. teatro Glimt was formed by Camila Sarrazin and Lars Gregersen in the summer of 2002.Drawing on our past experiences, we wanted to make a company that expressed the mix of theatre and circus. Creating performances that blended theatre, dance, music, street theatre and circus techniques. Our first performance “Memories of an Old Man”, was directed by Johnny Sørensen. It was about an old man remembering his only vivid memory, the girl of his dreams. We performed this 30 min. show on several festivals in Denmark. In the summer of 2003, musician Rasmus Skovmand worked with us for the show "The Dinner", also directed by Johnny Sørensen. During the summer we performed the show 52 times in 23 venues and festivals throughout Denmark, Italy and Slovenia. In the winter of 2003 and spring of 2004, we created our show called "... 2 Minutes, and We Open!". Set in a bar, the red thread is the relationship between the two owners and their customers. Since then we have performed this show in numerous festivals throughout Denmark, Spain, Italy, France, Switzerland and Serbia. Black Box Theatre In the winter of 2004 and 2005, we made a version of "...2 Minutes..." specially for indoor theatre. We felt it important to explore the more refined intense atmosphere that one can find in an indoor theatre. In September and October 2005, we worked with the director Johnny Sørensen and the light designer Sara Chust, to further develop the indoor theatre version, and have since then played this version in many theatres in Denmark. In 2006 we formed the company Royal Bones with 8 other performers. We created the performance “Fusk” in Orionteatern, Stockholm, and played this in 2007 at the prestigious Hamlet Summer Festival at Kronborg Castle, Denmark. Royal Bones are now preparing a new performance scheduled for 2010. Solo Performances In 2007, Lars Gregersen started work on his new soloperformance “Sisyphus Ascending”. In june 2008, he and the director and musician went to Monthelon Castle, France for a residency further researching the performance. Future projects are the soloperformance of Camila “Two Faces” about the complex change from girl to woman. Experimental Cabaret Concept From December 2008 a series of cabarets have given teatro GLIMT the possibility of turning things upside down, and thereby bringing up themes, which are often taboo. We have endeavoured to challenge the audience to think new thoughts and the artists to reinvent their methods and creative strategies.
